The Wood Foundation organised an informative workshop for all staff in recognition of Menopause Awareness Month.
Following staff suggestions, The Wood Foundation’s health and wellbeing team organised a workshop to raise awareness of menopause in a workplace context, for all office and remote staff, in recognition of Menopause Awareness Month this October.
According to the NHS, it is estimated that there are around 13 million people who are currently peri- or menopausal in the UK, which is equivalent to a third of the entire UK female population. With nearly 8 out of 10 menopausal people working while going through this transition, we felt it was important to host this informative session.
The interactive workshop, led by a Specialist Pelvic Health Physiotherapist Laura Patterson, highlighted the wide range of symptoms that many experience. The Clinic Director of Aberdeen-based Reform Physio & Pilates shared how menopause can affect physical and mental health and how this can influence work performance and overall wellbeing.
This session offered practical advice and self-care strategies, as well as workplace adjustments and insight for all team members to better support colleagues through this transitional stage of life.
