Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is the largest hospital in the North East of Scotland. However, in recent years it has become apparent that the amount of parking available at the Forresterhill Health Campus for patients and visitors was inadequate.
The Wood Foundation (TWF) has committed £10.75 million to a project with NHS Grampian to build a new multi-storey car park at the hospital which will provide an additional 1,000 spaces available to staff, visitors and patients.
The project is championed by TWF Trustee, Lady Helen Wood, who was concerned about the distress felt by patients and visitors when trying to park at the hospital in what was already an often stressful situation. TWF’s contribution has allowed for the construction to go ahead without diverting public funds from vital front-line healthcare.
