Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is the largest hospital in the North-east of Scotland and the amount of parking available at the Forresterhill Health Campus was inadequate to cope with demand. The Wood Foundation worked with NHS Grampian to address this issue.
The Wood Foundation donated £10.75 million to build a new multi-storey car park at the hospital which provides an additional 1,000 spaces available to staff, visitors and patients.
The project was championed by our Trustee Lady Helen Wood who was concerned about the distress felt by patients and visitors when trying to park at the hospital. The contribution from The Wood Foundation allowed for the construction to go ahead without diverting public funds from vital frontline healthcare services.
