Volunteering is a core part of who we are at The Wood Foundation.
As a philanthropic organisation, we are proud to give our team the time and opportunity to reflect our values by supporting causes close to their hearts.
Last weekend, Georgea Hughes, our Programmes Director, was one of more than 300 volunteers who helped support the much-anticipated Tall Ships Races in Aberdeen, described as Scotland’s biggest tourism event of the year.
Welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors and almost 50 vessels from across the globe, Georgea was a member of the Shoreside Host team who were on hand to provide a friendly welcome to everyone who attended the event.
She said: “It was a huge honour to be part of the Tall Ships team, albeit in a small way. Every day had pinch me moments and we truly saw the best of Aberdeen on display. I am beyond proud of our city.”
The Wood Foundation actively encourages all colleagues to use their paid volunteer time off to support charities and community initiatives that matter to them.
It is always inspiring to see our team lend their time, energy, and skills to help others – a reflection of our shared commitment to driving positive change locally and globally.
