The Wood Foundation’s UK Director, Ali MacLachlan, joined fellow University of Aberdeen alumni, supporters and staff earlier today for a panel discussion as part of the University’s Founders’ Week, celebrating its 530th anniversary.
The panel explored what the University means to different people across the community, including why The Wood Foundation choose to support student experience.
The Wood Foundation has been working closely with the University since 2023 when we launched our Interns with Impact programme and successfully funded six internships with charitable organisations across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
We are excited to announce that applications have just opened for 16 funded full-time summer internships this year. These opportunities range from roles in marketing, engagement, fundraising, online resources, policy, research, and storytelling.
The internship programme has opened doors for students to gain invaluable experience while actively supporting the third sector, both here in Scotland and internationally.
Ali said: “Our experience working with a range of charity partners has highlighted the growing challenges this vital sector faces. By connecting students with meaningful, paid opportunities, we aim to inspire the next generation of non-profit leaders, foster innovation, and sustain a strong talent pipeline for the non-profit workforce.”
The Foundation’s UK Director will return to the University of Aberdeen next Thursday (20 February) to take part in its Volunteering Fair. Alongside Sarah Irvine, Development Officer at ACVO, she will lead the “You Get Paid to Work Here?!” session at 2pm, further highlighting the benefits of graduate careers in the third sector.
